Manager Evaluation Setting (Release 4.5.1)

Manager Evaluation Setting (Release 4.5.1)

Overview

Release 4.5.1 improves the behavior of the Manager Evaluation setting for course and event session assessments.

With this update, the setting is consistently applied to both Reporting Managers and Team Managers, ensuring evaluation permissions behave as configured while providing managers with visibility into learner submissions.

This enhancement helps organizations maintain greater control over assessment evaluation workflows and improves transparency for managers involved in the review process.

Where to Find It

The Manager Evaluation setting is available in:

  • Course → Settings → Assessment

  • Event → Session → Settings → Assessment

The setting controls whether Reporting Managers and Team Managers can evaluate learner assessment submissions.

How It Works

When Manager Evaluation Is Enabled

When Manager Evaluation is enabled:

  • Reporting Managers can evaluate learner submissions.

  • Team Managers can evaluate learner submissions.

  • Managers receive evaluation requests according to existing workflows.

  • Assessment evaluations can be completed by an eligible manager.

This behavior remains consistent with existing manager evaluation processes.

When Manager Evaluation Is Disabled

When Manager Evaluation is disabled:

  • Managers cannot evaluate learner submissions.

  • Assessment evaluations remain available to administrators and other authorized evaluators.

  • Managers continue to have visibility into learner submissions and evaluation status.

  • Managers are informed that evaluation is not currently available for that training.

This provides visibility without granting evaluation permissions.

Evaluation Workflow Visibility

The update improves transparency for managers by clearly communicating whether evaluation is available for a specific assessment.

When evaluation is restricted, managers can see that the assessment exists and understand that evaluation access has been disabled for that training.

When evaluation is later re-enabled, managers are notified that the assessment is now available for evaluation, and can resume the normal evaluation process.

Benefits

This enhancement helps organizations:

  • Enforce evaluation permissions consistently

  • Prevent unintended manager evaluations

  • Maintain visibility into learner assessment activity

  • Improve transparency around evaluation responsibilities

  • Support more controlled assessment review processes

Use Case Example

An organization uses manager evaluations for most training programs but requires certain compliance assessments to be reviewed only by administrators.

By disabling Manager Evaluation for those assessments, managers can still see that submissions exist while evaluation access remains restricted to the appropriate administrators.

Additional Information

  • Changes apply to both course and event session assessments.

  • Existing Manager Evaluation settings are preserved.

  • No action is required for existing configurations.

  • Assessment evaluation workflows continue to function as configured.
